Call no man father

This article is in response to someone whom I will call (AYZ) who wrote to me stating that I should call no one ‘father’ quoting: “First, I don’t know if you have read Mathew 23:9- And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” He went on to ridicule ‘catholic’ and in particular ‘Roman Catholic.’ Here then is a summary of my reply to him: There are a number of religions in ‘Christianity’ who call themselves ‘Catholic’ in addition to the Roman Catholic, like the Orthodox, and Anglican, and Episcopalian, and also two surprises – the Coptic (which means Egypt), and Lutheran. The word catholic means ‘universal,’ and such term came from the Gospel of Saint Mark: Jesus said to the disciples: “Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mk 16:15). In Saint Matthew it is recorded: “Going therefore, teach ye all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you, and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world”(Mt 28:19). The term Greek Catholic Orthodox, Roman Catholic, came after the various splinter groups were set up in ‘Christianity.’ It is more proper to say ‘Catholic,’ (as in the original Christianity) rather than ‘catholic’ when describing or claiming a religion. A true Catholic is a devout practitioner of the Ten Commandments and a follower of the Gospels, and the Letters of the New Testament which outline the Seven Sacraments of the Church to which I am obedient. I believe that the Second Vatican Council changed the Roman church to become as low as a Protestant church. I see very little difference between the Roman, Lutheran, Baptist, or all the 1,000 different ‘christian’ churches today. Well did Isaiah lament: “All we like sheep have gone astray, every one has turned aside into his own way…” (Is 53:6). The Vatican II Council hijacked the structure, but could not hijack the faith handed down to me by my father and his fathers. This was ‘the faith of our fathers’ to which I will be true until death. This then brings me to the next part of his letter: “We must follow Christ, who is the Word of God made flesh, and in turn follow what the Holy Bible says and call on our Father God YHWH to interpret it for us if we do not understand. All in the name of Jesus Christ. (John 16:23)”. “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: I am the Lord that appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, by the Name of God Almighty, and My Name ADONAI I did not show them” (Ex 6:2,3). The name Adonai, which is in the Hebrew text, is that most proper name of God, which signifies His Eternal, Self-existent Being: ‘I AM WHO AM. HE WHO IS.’ (Ex 3:14), which in our every day language means : Independent, Infinite, without beginning, end, or change; and the Source of all other beings. Out of reverence the Jews never pronounce this Name; but, instead of It, whenever it occurs in the Bible, they read Adonai, which signifies the Lord; and, therefore, they put the points or vowels, which belong to the name Adonai, to the four letters of that other ineffable name ‘YHWH,’ which is Jod, He, Vau, He. Hence some moderns have framed the name Jehovah, or Yahweh, unknown to all the ancients, whether Jews or Christians; for the true pronunciation of the name, which is in the Hebrew text, by long disuse, is now quite lost. I would say that it would be best to stay with the original Jews as given to us by the early Church, and not one of the errant translations which have sprung up with the advent of Protestantism. Satan has used the divided church to build his own tower of Babel of bibles. My strong recommendation would be for you to find a Douay Rheims Version, and use it. You will be surprised to see how many errors there are in the modern day ‘bibles,’ and if you can accept, that even in the very early Church, there were dissensions about the books in the Bible, some of the Jewish converts (mostly Pharisee converts) wanting to stay with the Hebrew Canon, the rest wanted to add the ‘Deutero-Canonical’ seven books, plus 4 chapters, plus 70 verses missing in the post 1521 bibles of Luther and others. He goes on: “WHat is in the Holy Bible must be done as God’s Holy Spirit reveals it to us so that we may be Disciples of Christ or Followers of the Word of God.” You are correct in this statement, and without a doubt we must adhere to all that is written: “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions, which you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle” (2Th 2:14). The word ‘tradition’ is greatly maligned and misunderstood. The unwritten traditions which we have received, handed down from the apostles, and the early fathers of the Church, are to be received with the same power and effect as the written word. Returning to the question of calling no one on earth ‘father,’ it is best that we look at the entire statement made by Jesus: “But be not you called Rabbi, for One is your Master, and all you are brethren. And call none your father upon earth, for One is your Father, Who is in Heaven. Neither be ye called masters, for One is your Master, Christ(Mt 23:8-10). The meaning is, that our Father in Heaven is incomparably more to be regarded, than any father upon earth, and no master is to be followed, who would lead us away from Christ. But this does not hinder us from calling our parents ‘father’ and ‘mother.’ On the contrary we are by the law of God to have a due respect both for our parents, and our spiritual fathers, and for our school masters and teachers. This name ‘father’ as used by the Roman Catholic, Anglican, Episcopal, Orthodox, and Coptic churches is a title of dignity, the same as ‘President,’ or ‘Your Honor’ in the Courts of Law, etc. This then brings us to the question of Master, Teacher, Father. ‘One is your Master,’ or Teacher, Who is the Christ. There was supposed to be under Him one Vicar, Peter, and after him, the successors of Peter, who with all their subordinates would teach the one and the same doctrine in every part of the world. But starting in the late 400’s with the Coptic breakaway, and then with the multiplicity of cults and sects, which every day are dividing and subdividing into fresh cults and sects, no two leaders can be found teaching exactly the same doctrine in all points. Each is not only allowed, but expected to follow his own private spirit, and to build a creed based upon his own interpretation of Scripture. This is the error which you (XYZ) are promoting when you say: ‘and in turn follow what the Holy Bible says and call on our Father God YHWH to interpret it for us if we do not understand.’ You are not in the truth! You are with those who do not know the truth. They do not teach the truth! How can they teach truth when they do not have a complete or even a true Bible? The Catholic Church gave us the Bible, the Bible did not give us the Church! As far as ‘call no man your father upon the earth’ you must read what Saint Paul says: “I write not these things to confound you, but I admonish you as my dearest children. For if you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers, for in Christ Jesus, by the gospel, I have begotten you” (1Co 4:14,15). Saint Paul refers to his sons Timothy, Titus, what did they all him – ‘uncle’? Did not Elisha cry out to Elijah as he went up by a whirlwind into Heaven: “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the driver thereof…”? (2K 2:11,12). Did not Jesus say in the parable of the rich man who cried and said: “Father Abraham, have mercy on me…send Lazarus…”? (Lk 16:24). Let us go back and read the full statement of what Saint Paul said: “For I think that God has set forth us apostles, the last, as it were men appointed to death. We are made a spectacle to the world and to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ, we are weak, but you are strong, you are honorable, but we without honour. Even unto this hour we both hunger and thirst and are naked and are buffeted and have no fixed abode. And we labour, working with our own hands. We are reviled, and we bless. We are persecuted, and we suffer it. We are blasphemed, and we entreat. We are made as the refuse of this world, the off-scouring of all, even until now. I write not these things to confound you, but I admonish you as my dearest children. For if you have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers, for in Christ Jesus, by the gospel, I have begotten you. Wherefore, I beseech you, be ye followers of me as I also am of Christ. For this cause have I sent to you Timothy, who is my dearest son and faithful in the Lord. Who will put you in mind of my ways, which are in Christ Jesus, as I teach every where in every church” (1Co 4:9-17). Notice his words, ‘my dearest children…I have begotten you…my dearest son.’ Saint Paul is not contradicting Christ Jesus! Rather he is following His teachings. You go on to state: “Also, as I went thru your website, there is no talk of repentance or submission to God. Only about the 7 sacraments which are not in the Holy Bible. It seems as if though the person who brought you to the truth, then started teaching you all these things and pretty much told you to sit in the catholic religion and do as you are told. I don’t want to offend you but the Word of God is the final word, not what any ‘man’ or ‘elder’ or ‘father’ ‘deacon’ etc… thinks about what the Word of God means or means to say.”  In reply and without being in any way hash, but you seem to have been indoctrinated in some kind of religious sect which is focused on error, and not on fact. Incidently, the ‘protestant’ bibles omit the word ‘penance,’ – why? The purpose of my web site is not to preach repentance or submission to God, but to show forth His truth to an unbelieving world, soon to be severely punished with Great Tribulation. You err greatly when you say that the 7 sacraments which are not in the Holy Bible. They are! Let us first see what they are and their purpose, and then how they came about. The first two Sacraments, Baptism and Confessions, are given to us for our personal preparation in pleasing our God. The second two Sacraments, Holy Communion and Confirmation, are for our gaining co-union and unity in our God. The third two Sacraments, Matrimony and Holy Order, are for our perfection and station in life. The last Sacrament, Extreme Unction, is the final anointing of our eternal unity forever in the Eternal Word. The Seven Sacraments allow man of his own free will to return to Almighty God: At the Fall, in the act of disobedience, man fell from grace (Gn 3:24). The creature, made to the image of our God was destroyed, but in the Sacrament of Baptism the way was made for man to be washed and renewed in the Creator’s peace (Gn 8:11). Man would continue to sin, and so God did institute the Sacrament of Confessions, for man to be made immaculate again (Jn 20:22,23). Through Jesus Christ, our Lord set up the Sacrament of Holy Communion, so that man could come back to unity in Him, and God the Creator could re-enter His creature, man, allowing man to return into holy co-union in God (Mt 26:26-28). Our Savior recognized in man that the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, and so He established the Sacrament of Confirmation to assist man to receive the Spirit of God, that is, the Holy Ghost, back into his life (Lk 24:49). At the Fall, the unity of man and woman in marriage was broken, and the evil one became an intruder in marriage. Our Merciful God established the Sacrament of Matrimony (Mk 10:9), whereby man and woman could return to holy unity in each other, symbolic of the unity of God and man (Jn 17:23). At the Fall, man broke the priestly relationship with God, and man could no longer minister in His creation because of his enslavement to the devil. Our Lord God established a way for man to minister to God in purity and truth through the Sacrament of Holy Order of the Priesthood (Lk 22:19). At the Fall, man incurred the sin of death when he disobeyed the Lord, and became subject to the eternal death of Satan. God Almighty established the Sacrament of Extreme Unction, allowing man to avoid eternal death, and come to the lasting and highest anointing, which we receive in Jesus, Eternal Life (Lk 7:11-15). Part of the error why man today is so out of touch with the reality of the Word of God, is that he has been indoctrinated with error and bigotry. Jesus said: “Many false prophets shall rise and shall seduce many” (Mt 24:11), and so it has happened today, the false prophets in Protestantism, Romanism, and all the so very many thousands of ‘christian’ churches – some maintain that there are 30,000 protestant religions. Beware! See where you (XYZ) stand! I have traveled in over 100 countries of the world. I do not have a permanent home. I was born in Ireland, and since the Lord called me out into the Mojave Desert in California in the 1980’s to be instructed by Him, I have not had a place to lay my head. Today I am in …, awaiting His next instruction. I go when and where I am sent by Jesus. I have observed with interest what Jesus said: “But yet the Son of man, when He comes, shall He find, think you, faith on earth?” (Lk 18:8). I have been on my knees beseeching Jesus where is this faith to be found? I have been asking Him: “Where are the 144,000 who follow the Lamb?’ I have understood the meaning of that number and why He said: “And I beheld: and lo a Lamb stood upon Mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty-four thousand, having His Name and the Name of His Father written on their foreheads….These are they who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These follow the Lamb whithersoever He goes. These were purchased from among men, the firstfruits to God and to the Lamb” (Apoc 14:1,4). You quote: “Acts 7:48 – However, the Most High does not live in houses made by men. As the prophet says Acts 17:24 – God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands.” I would draw your attention to what Saint Paul says: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this the judgment, so also Christ was offered once to exhaust the sins of many, the second time He shall appear without sin in them that expect Him unto salvation” (Hb 9:27,28). He says in another place: “Seeing it is a just thing with God to repay tribulation to them that trouble you, and to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with the angels of His power, in a flame of fire, giving vengeance to them who know not God and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall suffer eternal punishment in destruction, from the face of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He shall come to be GLORIFIED IN HIS SAINTS and to be made WONDERFUL IN ALL THEM who have believed, because our testimony was believed upon you in that day. Wherefore also we pray always for you that our God would make you worthy of His vocation and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith in power, that the Name of our Lord Jesus may be GLORIFIED IN YOU, and YOU IN HIM, according to the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ” (2Th 1:6-12). In order to understand this re-examine the Third and Fourth Sacraments above. This kind of teaching is not uncommon in the Old Testament: “Give ye glory to God for Israel, His magnificence, and His power is in the clouds. God is wonderful in His saints, the God of Israel is He who will give power and strength to His people. Blessed be God” (Ps 67:35,36). (This would be Ps 68 in a protestant bible). All of christendom have turned away from the truth and reality of how God comes IN His people. Where are the 144,000? If you re-enter my website, you should read the very first page, and then go to the downloads, and read “The Reign of Christ in His Second Coming.” You say: “I appreciate your time and I thank God for the time He has allowed. I pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that our Father God YHWH illuminates our path and that neither of us be deceived by spirits of slumber, deception, or pride. God bless us all Aquinas.” I thank you for your time (XYZ) , and I hope that in humility of spirit your questions have been answered, and perhaps an enlightenment as been given to you, so that you can pursue the holiness of truth, in the perfection of our Heavenly Father! I take from the language you use that you are probably an American, and most probably from the USA. You have a great diversity of religions there, and as I have traveled to all of the 50 states, as well as most of the provinces of Canada, I sympathize with you to an extent because ‘churches’ open up with such frequency that it is scary. Your televangelists are a nightmare, and the Roman church is a disgrace for their departure from the fulness of the truth of the Seven Sacraments, and from following the protest-ant errors and their cults. If you want to be serious about saving your soul, ask why Jesus said that only a few would enter by the narrow gate. Ask yourself why only 144,000 before the Great Tribulation? Ask yourself, if there is a possibility that you, yes you, could even be wrong? In confidence in Jesus, in the certitude of His calling, in the perfection of His anointing, I send you blessings in abundance. Father Aquinas.

Do all Christians have Christian Citizenship?

All Roman Catholics, all Protestants, all Orthodox (Greek, Russian etc) all Coptics, call themselves ‘Christians’. Is this really so? In a sense they are correct, but in the fulness of truth they do not have Christian Citizenship!

Let me explain this by the way of my own personal civilian experience.
I was born in Northern Ireland and was made a ward of the British Court system at the age of 5. By being born in Ireland I also had the option of being an Irish citizen. At the age of 19 I decided to emigrate to the United States of America. My choices were to get an Irish passport or a British one. I opted to go completely legal and get release from being a ward of the British system, thus avoiding any problems later in life from that source.

I arrived in the USA in June 1956, and as requested by my alien status I made myself available to be drafted into the US Army for a two year period. In actual fact I enlisted for three years because of the benefits at the end of my tour of duty. When I joined the army, I was given a uniform with two labels on it: the first one was ‘U S Army’, and another label ‘Devlin’. I was an American, and American soldier, sworn to defend the United States. I was happy and proud to be an American – but I was an alien American and not an American citizen.

After being honorably discharged at the age of 24, I was legally qualified to apply for citizenship in my adopted country which had welcomed me in 1956. Having purchased and studied a book published by the Daughters of the American Revolution, application was made through the courts for citizenship, and after satisfying the judge that I knew some American history, he had me place my hand on my heart and swear allegiance to my new country – ‘one nation under God.’ A very happy American was now an American citizen! I had the same rights as every other citizen of the USA. America was good to me and I continually give thanks.

Similarly, when I was born, I was baptized about 30 days later. Made my first Confessions and Holy Communion at age7. Confirmed in the Holy Ghost at 11, and was then a full Christian Citizen. In the intervening years I lived up to the demands of the Catholic Church, adhered to the Seven Sacraments, the Precepts of the Church, and studied the Scriptures. In other words, I lived up to my commitments for Christian Citizenship.

The Seven Sacraments are the seven pillars of wisdom (Pr 9:1), which are the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven (Mt 16:19).

It is in our becoming a Christian Citizen, that we become one in Christ, and He becomes one in us. That is we are translated into the new man which is the Christian Citizen. There is only one way that this can be accomplished, and one way only – we must believe, live, and fulfill the Seven Sacraments of the Church as given to us by Jesus Himself. There are no exceptions and no short-cuts.

Jesus established the Seven Sacraments in Himself for our citizenship and oneness in Him. These Seven Sacraments allow man of his own free will to return to full citizenship in God.
First. At the Fall, in the act of disobedience, man fell from grace (Gn 3:24). The creature, made to the image of God was destroyed, but in the Sacrament of Baptism the way was made for man to be washed and renewed in God’s peace (Gn 8:11). Jesus established the Sacrament of Baptism by His Own baptism by John the Baptist in the Jordan (Mt 3:13-16).

Second. Man would continue to sin, and so God instituted the Sacrament of Confessions, for man to be made immaculate again. Jesus gave the ordained Apostles power to forgive sins: “Now when it was late the same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered together for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them: Peace be to you…He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. When He had said this, He breathed on them and He said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them: and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained” (Jn 20:22-23). He also said: “Amen I say to you, whatsoever you shall bind upon earth, shall be bound also in Heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose upon earth, shall be loosed also in Heaven. Again I say to you, that if two of you shall consent upon earth, concerning anything whatsoever they shall ask, it shall be done to them by My Father Who is in Heaven” (Mt 18:18,19). See here the two, the priest and the penitent.

Third. God set up the Sacrament of Holy Communion, so that man could come back to unity in Him, and God could re-enter His creature – man, thus allowing man to return into holy co-union in God, which unity Adam gave away to Satan at the Fall. “Whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread and blessed and broke and gave to His disciples and said: Take ye and eat. This is My Body. And taking the chalice, He gave thanks and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this” (Mt 28:26,27)…“And taking bread, He gave thanks and brake and gave to them, saying: This is My Body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of Me” (Lk 22:19). (See also Jn 6:51-57).

Fourth. God recognized in man that the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak, and so, He established the Sacrament of Confirmation to assist man, to receive the Spirit of God, that is, the Holy Ghost, back into his life. Jesus promised:“I will ask the Father: and He shall give you another Paraclete, that He may abide with you for ever, the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it sees Him not, nor knows Him. But you shall know Him; because He shall abide with you and shall be in you. But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you” (Jn 14:16,26). He told them: “And I send the promise of My Father upon you: but stay you in the city till you be endued with power from on high” (Lk 24:49). Then it was fulfilled: “And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them parted tongues, as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak” (Ac 2:2-4).

Fifth. At the Fall, the unity of man and woman in marriage was broken, and the evil one became an intruder in marriage. God established the Sacrament of Matrimony, whereby man and woman could return to holy unity in each other, symbolic of the unity of God and man. Jesus said: “But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause, a man shall leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder” (Mk 10:6-9). See the conformation of this in the marriage feast of Cana (Jn 2:1-11).

Sixth. At the Fall, man broke the priestly relationship with God, and man could no longer minister in God’s creation, because of his enslavement to the Devil. God established a way for man to minister to Him in purity and truth, through the Sacrament of Holy Order of the Priesthood. Jesus confirmed this: “And taking bread, He gave thanks and brake and gave to them, saying: This is My Body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of Me…And you are they who have continued with Me in My temptations, and I dispose to you, as My Father has disposed to Me, a Kingdom, that you may eat and drink at My table in My Kingdom, and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel” (Lk 22:19,28-30).

Seventh. At the Fall, man incurred the sin of death when he disobeyed God, and became subject to the eternal death of Satan. God established the Sacrament of Extreme Unction, allowing man to avoid eternal death, and come to the lasting and highest anointing, which we receive in Jesus – that is – Eternal Life. “And it came to pass afterwards that He went into a city that is called Naim…And when He came nigh to the gate of the city, behold a dead man was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow…Whom when the Lord had seen, being moved with mercy towards her, He said to her: Weep not. And He came near and touched the bier. And they that carried it stood still. And He said: Young man, I say to thee, arise. And he that was dead sat up and begun to speak. And He gave him to his mother” (Lk 7:11-15). It is also written: “Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the Church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man. And the Lord shall raise him up, and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess therefore your sins one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man avails much” (Jm 5:14-16).

He who denies any of these Sacraments denies Jesus Christ Who said: “He that shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father Who is in Heaven” (Mt 10:33). He also said: “Many are called, but few are chosen(Mt 20:16).

In summary for Christian Citizenship:
The first two Sacraments, Baptism and Confessions, are given to us for our personal preparation in pleasing God.
The second two Sacraments, Holy Communion and Confirmation, are for our gaining co-union and unity in God.
The third two Sacraments, Matrimony and Holy Order, are for our perfection and station in life.
The last Sacrament, Extreme Unction, is the final anointing of our eternal unity forever in The Eternal Word, which is entrance into Heaven.

These are the requirements given by Jesus for Christian Citizenship. Some people may wear the uniform, but they may not necessarily be citizens! It is written: “I know your tribulation and your poverty, but you art rich. And you are blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan…Behold, I will bring of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but do lie. Behold, I will make them to come and adore before your feet. And they shall know that I have loved you” (Apoc 2:9;3:9).

It is only by keeping the Seven Sacraments given to us by God that we have Christian Citizenship: “Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners: but you are fellow citizens with the saints and the domestics of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in Whom all the building, being framed together, grows up into an holy temple in the Lord in Whom you also are built together into an habitation of God in the Spirit” (Ep 2:19-22).

I encourage all people to seek full citizenship in Christianity.
